Joana Schenker começou a praticar bodyboard aos 13 anos, competindo pela primeira vez aos 14.
A atleta é campeã mundial de bodyboard, tetracampeã europeia e heptacampeã nacional da modalidade.
É um dos rostos internacionalmente mais marcantes da modalidade, não só devido às suas classificações, mas também por ser uma defensora do meio-ambiente e estilo de vida saudável.
Joana criou o projeto “Schenker School Tour”, onde apoia o Oceano Azul Foundation e o Oceanário de Lisboa. Nestas tours Joana visita escolas, a fim de contar a crianças entre o quinto e o décimo segundo ano, a sua história enquanto atleta e os desafios de competir mundialmente. O objetivo é contribuir com uma mensagem de cuidado do meio-ambiente.
